Good to know

Questions we hear often

What happens at my first appointment?
Your new patient appointment runs 45–60 minutes and covers everything: a comprehensive oral examination, clean and polish, oral cancer and periodontal screening, digital imaging, X-rays and photographs where required, fluoride treatment, oral hygiene education and a proper discussion of any treatment — with all costs explained before anything goes ahead.
How often should I see the dentist?
The traditional rule of thumb is every six months — regular check-ups are the best way to prevent, catch and fix dental concerns early. People at higher risk of dental disease, such as smokers or those with a particularly sweet tooth, may benefit from visiting every three to four months.
Do you see children? When should my child first visit?
Absolutely — we're a family practice through and through. We generally recommend a child's first visit at around 2 years of age (earlier if there's an issue), where we check their development is on track and make the dentist a fun, positive place from the start. We also welcome Medicare's Child Dental Benefits Schedule for eligible children — up to $1,000 over two calendar years.
Can you help in a dental emergency?
Yes — emergency dental care is one of our services. If you have a toothache, broken tooth, knocked-out tooth or swelling, call us on (02) 5839 5092 as early as you can and we'll get you seen as soon as possible. For severe facial swelling affecting breathing or swallowing, or major trauma, go to your nearest hospital emergency department.
Do I need X-rays?
X-rays reveal hidden decay and give your dentist a complete picture of your teeth. For your convenience we have our own X-ray machine on-site, so it's all done at your appointment without delays. They're digital, so exposure is extremely low — dental X-ray radiation is equivalent to around 2% of your normal everyday radiation. Generally X-rays are taken every two years, depending on your decay risk.
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes — we've partnered with Afterpay, which lets you pay off treatment in four fortnightly instalments with no deposit. Applying is quick and paperless — you just need Australian photo ID and your contact details, and most approvals are instant, so treatment can often start the same day. Afterpay is subject to provider terms and approval.
